Los Angeles native Joanna moved to Phoenix with her family when she was 9 years old. She got her first dog — a black cocker spaniel named Mickey — two years later when she was 11.
“I have always had a strong love for animals,” says Joanna who attended the Veterinary Assistant Program at Apollo College. She joined the team at North Kenilworth Veterinary Care in August of 2012, and was promoted to our OSHA Safety Officer shortly after starting.
Joanna finds assisting in the care and treatment of our animal patients very rewarding personally. She also appreciates that the mission of the veterinarians and technicians is to provide conscientious and individualized care for each pet and its owner.
Away from work, Joanna enjoys reading, going to the park, and spending time with her family, which includes pitbull, Negra, Chiquita the Chihuahua, and her puppies.
This North Dakota native moved south to Arizona with her family when she was six. At age 11, she got her first dog, Willow, from the Arizona Humane Society, and has never looked back to a pet-less life.
Aja earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Veterinary Science from the University of Arizona and passed the state examination to become a certified veterinary technician in 2011. She joined the staff at North Kenilworth Veterinary Care in the spring of 2012 where she cares for our patients and assists our veterinarians. In July 2017 she was promoted to the position of Practice Manager.
“I love seeing people with their beloved pets and how happy pets can make their owners feel. I’ve always worked with animals and cannot think of anything I would be better at or enjoy more than working in the veterinary field,” shares Aja, who enjoys hiking, volleyball, fishing and camping with her husband.
While she doesn’t exactly take her work home, she is still surrounded with animal companions. They share their Phoenix home with four dogs: Eldie, Pancake, Fern, and Vedder; and five frisky felines.
A passionate proponent of animal welfare Jessica has devoted her working life, and much of her home life, to those animals most in need. Jessica feels that every animal is deserving of quality medical care and is first to jump at helping a pet in need. Jessica began her veterinary medical career in 2001 and has become proficient in animal nursing and surgical care over the years. In 2006 Jessica passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam earning her Certified Veterinary credentials in the state of Arizona. She is a trusted member of our team and always willing to share her extensive knowledge with others.
Jessica resides in her central Phoenix home with her husband, Jason, and their dogs, Jolene and Levi.
Desiree joined the North Kenilworth team in February of 2019. Her dedication to animal welfare shows daily in her kind treatment of all of our feline, canine, and rabbit patients. Desiree began her journey in the veterinary medical field in 2011 when she attended Anthem College. She has since worked in high volume vaccination clinics in order to build her knowledge in preventative medicine. Three years of experience in this area have given her an excellent understanding of common reactions and behaviors of dogs and cats in a veterinary setting. Her aspiration at North Kenilworth are to one day feel confident in delivering anesthesia to the patients undergoing surgical procedures at our office.
Desiree shares her South Phoenix home with her three cats, her boyfriend, and his two American Staffordshire Terriers.
